John Lawrence’s unique style spans the many subject areas where he finds interest and beauty. Of course, he draws the stimulation for his paintings from the subjects themselves, but the spectacular scenery surrounding his Southern Ireland home is a particular source of inspiration.
It’s not only Ireland that inspires John’s painting. Regular sojourns to Provence and Southern Italy result in wonderful land, sea and cityscapes and snapshots of life, all capturing the unique light, atmosphere and essence of these regions.

I am very fortunate to be surrounded by beautiful and dramatic scenery, forever changing in light and colour with every visit. Swollen rivers, glistening tidal waters, bobbing boats in protective harbours, quaint cottages and colourful street scenes are all a wonderful source of inspiration.
